On 24 January 2026, a major fire broke out at the Indigo Hotel in the Gulberg area of Lahore, Pakistan, prompting a large‑scale rescue and evacuation operation. The blaze started in the basement of the 19‑storey hotel building, with smoke spreading quickly through the lower levels of the structure.

Casualties & Evacuations:
At least three people were killed in the fire — identified as Imran, Shehryar, and Riaz — while several others were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.
Rescue 1122 and firefighting teams responded rapidly, deploying over 20 emergency vehicles and around 80 personnel.
Nearly 275 guests and hotel staff were safely evacuated from the building during the operation.

Officials reported that the fire may have originated from a boiler explosion in the basement area of the hotel. Rescue teams brought the blaze under control, though smoke and heat delayed complete clearing of the affected floors.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and senior provincial officials were on the scene to oversee the response, praising firefighters and emergency workers for their efforts.
