House of Medics in Ghana 2024 | Health Mission & Giving Back

The House of Medics spent 3 weeks in Ghana giving back to local communities.

1. MedAdvance Conference at the British Council, Accra - a conference that invited doctors, medical students, nurses, dentists and policy makers to discuss the future of the Ghanaian healthcare system and how it can be improved through innovation and research

2. Project Tamale - the team travelled to Tamale, in the Northern Region to deliver free health screening to deprived Ghanaians. They tested for high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, hepatitis and anaemia. They also spent another day giving lectures to the community and faculty at Tamale Technical University to teach them how to optimise their health.

3. Girls Glow Ghana - a female empowerment day that taught over 200 girls about personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene, dental hygiene, hand hygiene, sexual health and self-worth, in collaboration with Touch of Hope and CLITH Ghana. They also opened a sanitary pad bank so that the students have access to menstrual health products.

4. Visit to Bless the Children International Home - the House of Medics travelled to Kwahu to visit an orphanage they have been supporting for over 10 years to give a donation.
