Turquoise water and white sand beaches. Postcard-perfect views.
The Zanzibar everyone recognises.

But that’s only part of the story.

In the first few minutes of this video, we show the island as it appears on Instagram — the dream, the fantasy, the escape. The Zanzibar we all know and see celebrated online. Then we pull back the filter.

Because beyond the brochures lies another Zanzibar.
Bumpy roads. Everyday neighbourhoods standing just metres from luxury resorts. Homes built from whatever materials are available. An island where beauty and struggle exist side by side — and not everyone wants to see, or show, that part.

This isn’t an exposé, and it isn’t an attack.
It’s simply an honest glimpse of a place full of contradictions — breathtaking, complicated, uncomfortable at times, and very real.

Zanzibar is stunning.
Zanzibar is struggling.
Both can be true.
