Dartmoor Way High Moor Link | A Solo Hike Overcoming My Wild Camping Fears

The Dartmoor Way runs in a circular style from Ivybridge around the edge of Dartmoor National Park for 108 miles. There is also a cycling route, but the hikers path is a route boasting wide open moorlands and deep dark wooded valleys, feral ponies and glistening waterfalls; around every corner there is a new discovery to be made.

Abbie set out to walk the route in early spring with the goal of overcoming their fear of wild camping. Abbie faced some hiccups along the way, as well as hail showers, thunder and lightening, frightening mental health blips, and the odd long stretch of road walking. At the risk of oversharing, we can say that Abbie has done plenty of wild camping since, and this trip was the cornerstone to their new relationship with the set up.
