Lyle Spud Murphy conceived tuneful, multi-layered charts for the Swing Orchestras of Casa Loma, Bunny Berigan, Fletcher Henderson, Bob Crosby, Benny Goodman and many others. Benny was simply one of the biggest superstars of American entertainment, selling 100 million records during his lifetime.
Murphy’s bubbling, exuberant, giddy, chart for “Get Happy” was catnip for the dancers and an early Goodman hit. This clip segues into the SAME arrangement played by a modern Swing orchestra in 2002.
