TMB Day 10: From Ladders to Lac Blanc: The Epic Ascent

Day 10 – Argentiere ➝ Ladders ➝ Lac Blanc ➝ Plan Praz ➝ Chamonix
Day 10 of the Tour du Mont Blanc will forever be remembered as Ladder Day! 🪜 We climbed through iconic vertical ladders and rocky scrambles, tackled nearly 5,000 feet of elevation gain, and were rewarded with jaw-dropping views of the Mont Blanc massif.

Starting early (first bus at 6:46 am), we managed to beat the crowds on the ladders and make it to Lac Blanc in time to enjoy the stunning views before the crazy afternoon rush. Don’t get me wrong, it was still crowded but it could have been worse. It was still worth making the side trip here. The greenish/turquoise lake and the views of the Mont Blanc massif was breathtaking—and easily one of the most unforgettable stops on the TMB.

From there, we continued our trek across rock scree to Plan Praz, catching the cable car down to Chamonix, where we’d be spending the night. A physically demanding day, but absolutely worth it.

Along the way we…
• Conquered the famous ladders of Tre Le Champ
• Battled steep climbs, scrambles, and elevation gain
• Took in unreal alpine panoramas at Lac Blanc
• Ended the day with a well-earned meal (but maybe skip the hotdog at Lac Blanc 😅)


💡 Instead of finishing the TMB on Day 11 as originally planned, we shifted our schedule to avoid upcoming rain. That meant trading trekking boots for a little sightseeing! Up next: a spontaneous day trip to Annecy—a lakeside gem often called the “Venice of the Alps.” Stay tuned before we return for the grand finale of the Tour du Mont Blanc!
