Two days after our previous visit to Lincoln City's football ground we find ourselves there again, but this time in the car park on the opposite side of the ground. I'm not exactly sure that the locations match up, as little remains from the old photo to match up today. However, thanks to Malcolm Johnson, who took the old photo, we do know that it is from 09.10.71, and shows the Exeter City team coach at the back of the St. Andrew's Stand. In the background on the left you can see the embankment that carried the high level avoiding railway line just to the north of the football ground, and the Cross Street bridge would have been just out of shot to the left. On the right you can see the Robey's works on Canwick Road.
The embankment has long gone, and the view to the right is now obscured by Play Zone. The all weather sports pitches are also a recent addition. I have wonderful memories of watching games at Sincil Bank, but this side of the ground was always less known to me as I was an "open sider".
