The Circuit Paul Ricard is unique for its high-friction "Blue Line" and "Red Line" run-off areas, which use a mixture of asphalt and tungsten to slow cars down instead of traditional gravel traps. These surfaces are graded by abrasiveness, with the outer red zones being extremely rough to shred tires and rapidly stop vehicles before they reach the barriers.
