This site is an absolutely fantastic archive of photographs and the history of Park Royal Vehicles - a leading body builder of buses and coaches in the UK. Its origins dated back to 1889, and closure occurred in July, 1980. Many thanks to http://prv.org.uk for permission to use photos and related infomation on its site to produce this video.

In 1953, a very luxurious coach appeared with bodywork by Park Royal. It was called "The Royalist." It represented the best of the coachbuiler's art. The Royalist was supposedly, the latest in luxury for its time. Not many were built - only a total of eleven.

In 1967, the Royalist name was revived for a more modern coach, which by all accounts, was to have been an equally luxurious vehicle for its time period.
This time, even fewer were built - a total of six.

These coaches are often referred to as "mythical." Is it because there were so few built? Was it because it had something special about it that other coaches of the same era did not have?
