Once the pandemic hit, I decided it was time to get more serious about home theater since many commercial theaters are not safe to visit at present.
The entire theater is meant to be as portable as possible given the apartment setting.
I upgraded my B&W 603 S2 front speakers to the Klipsch THX Ultra II KL-650 models that so far, have outstanding neutral response and much larger dynamic range. I am able to get peak sound pressure levels of around 115 decibels from my seating position when fed a max of 180 watts per channel. I’d never approach this level in an apartment but it has more than enough low distortion dynamic headroom capability.
The front end is using a Rotel RSP-1582 and a Rotel RMB 1075.
I am using a 4K BenQ TK-850 for the projector paired with a 110” portable Draper screen. I made custom aspect ratio masking panels that are easily adjusted with neodymium magnets.
The seats were sourced from Booth Seating of Tennessee and were manufactured by Mobiliario, a Mexican commercial theater seating company that provides probably the majority of auditorium seating to at least the United States movie cinema market. I can’t say enough good things about this particular model, the Mobiliario Vesubio Plus. I have absolutely no back pain now.
