I made these a few years ago when Animal Crossing was all the rage and I just stumbled on them. I had gotten a K.K. Slider sound font and some MIDIs of some of my favorite Cave Story songs, and decided to see what it would be like to combine them.
If you’ve never done this, it’s not as simple as just adding a filter to a MIDI file, I had to hand select and choose each of KK’s sounds (like EEE or AHH, etc.) and assign them to each note in the MIDI file, depending on where I thought they sounded best.
I tried to keep these songs faithful to both games, keeping what I loved about the Cave Story music, but making it sound potentially “playable” in Animal Crossing by KK, by not going nuts with overdubs of his voice in places where the song might have sounded better.
