Is A 6-Inch Thick Concrete Slab Good Enough? Here's What You Need To Know

I'm installing a 6-inch thick concrete slab on this job that'll be used as a storage garage. Now, I've installed 100s of concrete slabs just like this one for garages and sheds over the last 45 years. What I've experienced is if the gravel base is done properly (using the right gravel or crushed stone) and the base is thick enough for the area of the country. The slab should be just fine for a single story garage. I Maine, where I live, the gravel base is usually one to two feet deep. It's installed in lifts of 8" and compacted solid. The gravel is either 3/4" crushed gravel, 3/4" crushed stone, or a mixture of both.
