About ROSEMEAD
ROSEMEAD is a tense, emotionally charged drama inspired by a harrowing true story. The film centers on a Chinese American family living in the San Gabriel Valley, where cultural expectations, unspoken shame, and buried trauma simmer just beneath the surface.
Lucy Liu delivers a riveting, career-defining performance as an ailing mother who realizes her troubled teenage son (played by Lawrence Shou) is slipping further into darkness. As his obsessions deepen and his behavior grows more frightening, she is forced into a series of impossible choices—torn between protecting her son, protecting the community, and protecting herself.
Set against the pressures and prejudices faced by a Chinese American community, ROSEMEAD explores questions of mental health, generational conflict, and what it really means to keep a family together when love, fear, and danger collide. It’s a gripping portrait of a mother pushed to the edge, and a son who becomes both victim and threat inside a world that would rather look away.
About Lucy Liu
Lucy Liu is an acclaimed actor, director, and producer who has built a groundbreaking career across film, television, and voice work. She first came to widespread attention with Ally McBeal, then cemented her place in pop culture with roles in Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Chicago, and the series Elementary.
Liu has also directed episodes of television and worked extensively in animation and voice acting. In ROSEMEAD, she takes on one of her most emotionally demanding roles to date, portraying a mother whose strength, vulnerability, and moral limits are all tested.
About Lawrence Shou
Lawrence Shou plays the troubled teenage son at the center of ROSEMEAD. His performance anchors the film’s escalating tension, capturing a young man caught between inner turmoil, unprocessed pain, and increasingly dangerous impulses. Opposite Lucy Liu, he brings a raw, unsettling energy that makes their mother–son dynamic both heartbreaking and terrifying.
ROSEMEAD is a must-watch for audiences interested in character-driven drama, Asian American stories, and films that tackle family, fear, and survival with honesty and intensity.
