AudioFire 12 power issue

My AudioFire 12 was being used to watch a movie through a MacBook Pro when it started making this noise. It has not worked since... this is all it will do. I have tried disconnecting the hardware, switching cables, and more.

Periodically, the unit also would start to exhibit slight distortion on outputs when playing back audio, and the distortion would gradually worsen to the point of inaudibility of the original sound, as though I'd applied a bitcrusher distortion to the outs and gradually turned it to become more distorted... only solved by restarting the unit.

Of course, that issue began shortly after the warranty ran out. :( Anyone got any ideas on this?
