With nearly 75 years of history as the USA's first purpose-built sports car, the Corvette has lasted through 8-generations as an automobile designed strictly for fun and to be the most aspirational and cherished of GM's performance cars. Yet despite its fascinating heritage, the 3rd-generation Corvette (the C3) remains the black sheep of this legendary family.

When it debuted in 1968, the C3 "Shark" had several industry-firsts for an American car. It cut an unmistakably sleek and aquatic profile, boasted incredible V8 power, and featured a long list of accolades and track-bred skills to match. The C3 is also the best-selling Corvette of any generation before or since and it was immortalized in popular culture as America's dream machine. Yet today, the Corvette C3 is lost in a sea of more coveted classics... the question is WHY?

To find out what went wrong, the boys will dive into their customer's triple black 1980 'Vette to uncover why it is acting so slow and sluggish. As they work their way through the engine trouble, they will also look at the history of the Corvette from 1953 - 1982; and look into the car's lineage and evolution of design. Perhaps only then will they be able to uncover the truth behind this intrepid little warship that triumphed in the moment; but would ultimately sink under the weight of its own success!
