In this video, we visit AgroZafra, a large family-owned rice operation with Ukrainian roots and nearly 90 years of rice-growing history. Héctor Zub takes us deep into the operation to show what it really takes to grow rice under some of the wettest, muddiest, and most challenging conditions we’ve ever seen.
After 8 inches of rain, we navigate muddy back roads and flooded fields to inspect high-acreage John Deere air seeders working nonstop in extreme conditions. Planting rice in wet and often muddy conditions creates unique problems most farmers rarely face — including corrosion, bearing failures, worn discs, depth-control challenges, and constant maintenance battles.
🚜 What you’ll see in this video:
• How rice is planted in flooded, high-moisture environments
• Inside a large-scale, multi-generation rice farming operation
• John Deere air seeders operating in extreme mud and water
• Real-world equipment failures caused by constant moisture
• The maintenance challenges unique to rice farming
