When Arthur's spacecraft crashes on a hostile alien world, his survival seems impossible. The blue-skinned inhabitants of this planet have good reason to hate humans after a devastating attack twenty cycles ago left many dead and missing.

While hiding in an ancient cave system, Arthur encounters Eela, a remarkably intelligent alien child who offers unexpected help with repairing his damaged communicator. But Eela's mother, Cindysa, watches from the shadows with a deadly promise: should Arthur bring harm to her daughter or their people, she will find him and kill him silently, when he least expects it.

As Arthur's rescue approaches, he faces an impossible choice: leave these blue-skinned beings who saved him to face harsh punishment, or offer them a journey beyond the stars—a path filled with equal parts promise and peril.
