The federal cabinet has approved three key clauses in the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The proposed changes include establishing a Constitutional Court, transferring judges, and amending Article 243. In total, 46 amendments are planned across various constitutional articles, including 243, 184(3), 186, 200, and 209. After cabinet approval, the 27th Amendment was presented to the Senate, and a joint committee of the Senate and National Assembly will now review it. A major proposal includes the creation of a new “Army Rocket Force (ARFC)”, the country’s fourth military branch after the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Chief of Army Staff will be designated as the “Commander of Defense Forces,” overseeing coordination across all services, including the Strategic Plans Division (SPD), which will also be integrated into the Rocket Force.

The amendment further suggests increasing Balochistan Assembly seats and expanding the size of the provincial cabinet, including the number of advisors. It also proposes holding Senate elections simultaneously and creating a lifetime position of “Field Marshal.”

Meanwhile, PML-N’s Bilal Farooq Tarar has been elected unopposed in the NA-66 Wazirabad by-election.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif revealed that mediators Turkey and Qatar were disappointed by Afghanistan’s stance in recent talks. He confirmed that no new round of Pakistan-Afghanistan negotiations is planned. The Afghan delegation reportedly agreed with Pakistan’s position verbally but refused to put it in writing, a move Asif said carries no weight in international diplomacy.

وفاقی کابینہ اجلاس میں ٢٧ویں آئینی ترمیم میں تین شقوں کی منظوری دی گئی ہے، تجویز کردہ ترامیم میں آئینی کورٹ بنانے، ججز کی ٹرانسفر اور آرٹیکل 243میں تبدیلی شامل ہے، 27ویں ترمیم میں آئین کی مختلف شقوں میں جیسا کہ آرٹیکل ٢٤٣، آرٹیکل ١٨٤ (٣)، آرٹیکل ١٨٦، آرٹیکل ٢٠٠ اور آرٹیکل ٢٠٩ سمیت کل 46 ترامیم کی جائیں گی۔ وفاقی کابینہ سے منظوری کے بعد ٢٧ویں ترمیم کو سینیٹ میں پیش کر دیا گیا۔ سینٹ اورقومی اسمبلی کے دونوں ایوانوں کی مشترکہ کمیٹی قائم ہوجائے گی جواس پر غور کرے گی۔
آرمی ، ایئرفورس اور نیوی کے بعد اب چوتھی فور س” آرمی راکٹ فورس“ (اے آر ایف سی) ہوگی، چیف آف آرمی سٹاف ”کمانڈر آف ڈیفنس فورسز بھی کہلائیں گے، تمام کوآرڈینیشن چیف آف آرمی سٹاف خود بلحاظ کمانڈر آف ڈیفنس فورسز کیا کریں گے، مجوزہ ترامیم کے تحت راکٹ فورس میں اسٹرٹیجک پلان ڈویژن (ایس پی ڈی) بھی شامل ہے۔
27 ویں آئینی ترمیم میں بلوچستان میں صوبائی اسمبلی کی نشستوں میں اضافے کی تجویز بھی دی گئی ہے، صوبائی کابینہ کے حجم میں اضافے کی تجویز بھی زیرِ غور ہے، صوبائی کابینہ کے مشیران کی تعداد میں اضافہ کیا جائے گا، ایک وقت میں پورے سینیٹ کے انتخابات کرانے کے حوالے سے ترامیم بھی تجویز کی گئی ہیں، ایک تجویز کے مطابق فیلڈ مارشل کا عہدہ تاحیات رکھنے کی تجویز بھی دی گئی۔
