Live Vocal Looping - Take Five - by Jazz Singer Clare Elizabeth

Here is my cover of 'Take Five' using live vocal looping with a basic loop station (Ditto mic looper) to create a base line, harmonies and percussion sounds. Then I add a bit of jazzy scat over the top and the fabulous lyrics and melody - et voilà! Please be patient and listen to the end - it takes time to build up the loops :-)

Clare Elizabeth's Bio

“Since I was about 6 years old I’ve always felt in my element whenever I’ve sung, whether in front of the mirror or to a live audience.” Now in her 30's and living in central France, Clare’s music career is going from strength to strength.

Inspired by artists from days gone by, “It would be wonderful to be able to go back in time and sing with women like Joni Mitchel, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin”. Clare is also a fan of many modern-day chart toppers, such as James Bay, Amy Winehouse and Adele.

The music on Clare's debut EP (under previous stage name 'Clare Bonham', 2012) ‘Parce que J’aime Ça’, is a mix up of pop, jazz and soul, all brought together by her unique and powerful voice, in both English and French. There are 5 tracks in total, 3 of which Clare co-wrote with fellow musician and producer, Henri Caruso from indie label CarusoHProd, to whom Clare was signed at the time.

Clare has wowed many audiences since her childhood. During her teenage years much time was spent devoted to singing in bands and musical theatre productions. In her twenties she spent time touring Europe, performing jazz and blues standards both in venues and on the streets of Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and France. Then in 2010, Clare emerged on the music scene where she lives near Roanne, doing private gigs and singing in a local choir. In 2011 Clare’s vocal talent was picked up on, and brought her to sing on stage alongside 4 talented musicians (Caruso & Co. ~ Henri Caruso, Nino Marino, Jean-Luc Chaize and Alain Poyet), who together performed both classic jazz and swing numbers as well as the originals on the EP.  For various reasons, the band members went their separate ways late in 2014.

Since then Clare has had time to develop her own songwriting,  "I picked up my guitar, learnt a few chords and let it all flow out!" She exclaimes.  "I've grown in confidence and style where my songwriting is concerned, and now have plenty of titles to develop and record onto my first full length album".
