WHAT IS CELIAC DISEASE?
Celiac Disease (CD) is a serious —but also common— human enteropathy caused by a permanent intolerance to gluten and, more specifically, to its protein fraction, called gliadin. In people affected by celiac disease, the presence of gluten in food cause an immune response that damages the small intestine over time.
CELIAC DISEASE SCREENING AND DIAGNOSIS
Definitive diagnosis of celiac disease is based on the typical histological changes observed in intestinal biopsies. However, serologic tests such as detection of circulating anti-gliadin, anti-tTG and anti-endomysial antibodies represent cheaper, less invasive analysis methods to detect this disease.
In this video, you will see the one-step procedure of the CD1WB OPERON test for detecting human anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies in blood.
