Here are the summary of the reasons why the bump feed on the milwaukee M18 string trimmer does not work.
1) Spool cap faulty and tangled line
Check the spring on the spring cap, and make sure there is no tangled line.
Simply unwind and load the string again could solve this issue.
2) Old stiff string
Sometimes the string line become brittle overtime. The method to restore the flexibility is to soak it on water for 24 hours.
3) Incorrect string size
Make sure you use the string with correct size. Check your milwaukee string trimmer model for the max string size, mine is 2.4mm.
4) Incorrect bump feed technique
The correct way to bump feed is to bump it into the ground continuously. Do not lift it before the line is being released. If you keep lifting it during the beep feed, this might not be effective to feed the line.
5) Faulty trimmer head
The entire trimmer head might be faulty. The best way to solve this is to replace the entire trimmer head.
