Kavalan "Solist" Cask Strength Whiskies Reviewed (Sherry, Ex-Bourbon, Vinho Barrique & Fino)

Here I review all 4 of the Kavalan Cask Strength "Solist" whiskies that are currently available in the U.S. (the "Peaty Cask" is hopefully arriving later this year - 2016). Just remember, the “Solist” name is used on world bottles (70cl), but it was dropped from the label on the 750ml ones sold here in the states.
They're also about to release lower proof (46%) versions of some of these called "Sherry Oak", "Ex-Bourbon Oak" & one called "Podium" (which seems to almost be a combination of the two) at slightly lower price point ($110-$140).

Bottle specifics:
My Ex-Bourbon cask retailed around $160 and is from cask # B090919020A (distilled Sept. 19th, 2009 and was the 020th barrel filled that day).
My Vinho Barrique retailed around $175 and is from cask # W090220047 (distilled Feb. 20th, 2009 and was the 047th barrel filled that day). Video correction: Originally they sourced only Portuguese wine barrels for this (hence the name “Vinho”), but they found them a bit hard to source at the quality/quantities needed, so they now also incorporate U.S. (Napa Valley), French and Australian wine casks.
My Sherry Cask retailed around $180 and is from cask # S081205024 (distilled Dec. 12th, 2008 and was the 024th barrel filled that day).
My Fino Sherry retailed around $400 and is from cask # S060814024 (distilled Aug. 14th, 2006 and was the 024th barrel filled that day).

As of 01-15-2016, my current bottle count stands at over 2,100 bottles. I am a Certified Specialist of Spirits and have also been certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT). I've been actively collecting for the last two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help and understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection.
