Another superb winter steam gala hosted by the Great Central railway. This year they chose to have a Southern theme to the gala. Both visiting locomotives once worked in the southern region during their time on BR metals. U class No. 31806 and Battle of Britain class No. 34053 Sir Keith Park were the visitors in questions. Combined with the home fleet at the GCR comprising of SR King Athur class No. 777 Sir Lamiel, LMS Black five No. 45305, LMS 8F No. 48624, LMS Ivatt class No. 46521, Great Western Hall class No. 6990 Witherslack hall, BR Standard 9F 92214 (masquerading as 92220 Evening Star) With these impressive names on show allied to a busy timetable of passenger, goods and TPO services it was a superb gala and full credit must go out to the team at the GCR.
I visited on the Friday and Saturday, the weather stayed mostly dry but the wind was indeed strong and this shows during parts of the video so many apologies for it. The locations i used were Woodthorpe, Quorn and Woodhouse, Kinchley lane, Swithland and Rothley. I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
