For Catholics, the Eucharist is the sacramental extension of the Incarnation through space and time, to borrow words from Bishop Barron. For many evangelicals, however, Catholic eucharistic theology is a denial or rejection of Chalcedonian Christology.
In this episode, we examine how Catholics and (conservative) Protestants share a historic and orthodox Christology, but also how Catholics and Protestants sharply diverge when that Christology is applied to the words of Institution, "This is My Body." Protestant Reformers were frequently guilty of both Monophysitism and Nestorianism in their views of the Lord's Supper, while the Catholic Church, even in her understanding of the eucharist, has remained ever faithful and true to the Chalcedonian Christology that she fought for in the first six centuries of the Church.
We will discuss the Incarnation, the Eucharist, and Christological heresy in the context of Catholicism vs. Protestantism. Is the Catholic understanding of the Eucharist a heretical belief? Are Catholic doctrines on the Incarnation of Christ and the Eucharist aligned with authentic biblical teachings, or do they veer into Christological error?
If you're a Catholic apologist defending the faith, a Protestant studying Catholicism, or a Catholic convert seeking to understand or articulate the core differences between Catholic and Protestant beliefs, this video is for you. We examine the foundations of the Eucharist and the Incarnation through scripture and church tradition. We also unpack key theological questions that separate Catholics and Protestants, particularly concerning sacramental theology, the nature of Christ's presence in the Eucharist, and the distinction between Orthodox and heretical views of Christ's nature.
Whether you're seeking clarity on Catholic apologetics or trying to understand Protestant critiques of Catholic Christology, this video will equip you with the knowledge to engage in thoughtful, respectful discussion. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share as we explore the doctrinal divides that shape Catholic vs. Protestant theology.
