X1 and the Atlas platforms are leagues apart in architecture and are not related. The definition of platform is not just a metal frame or floor pan as before. It defines changes in the metallurgy, crumple zones, structure of wheel arch designs, electric architecture and components and software associates connected technology and all that defines an SDV.
X1 including the AlfaArc platform limits features including the limited wheel well that could not accommodate a tyre size more than 16 inches. That required a lot of modifications to the entire chassis construct. That is the reason they took a decision to start with a clean Sheet of paper where they can weild together the requisite moulds to get the final assembly. The first ever modular architecture made by Tata Motors, the AlfaArc, was a blunder they recognized later and that will not be used in future cars. The ATLAS architecture has made fresh designs that can be accommodating all the short comings of the former and can have cars between 3.99 to 4.6 meters. Maybe the ATLAS is born out of heavy modification to the AlfaArc platform.
Also the Curvv that is 4.3 meters is weighted at 1020 kgs compared to the Nexon that weighs at 1080 kgs for a car that is smaller at 3.99 meters for the base variants. So the Nexon will be lighter by 100 kgs if the boot is chopped off to make it a sub 4 meter car. That is one way to say that there are many metallurgy and sheet metal changes to make it lighter and stiffer and hence is a new platform.
