What if The Smiths’ There Is A Light That Never Goes Out had been recorded as a nocturnal nightwave track – deep bass, neon synths and a slow, pulsing beat for the small hours? The Salford Emulators is my electronic reimagining of the classic, keeping the melancholy intact but moving it onto a late-night dancefloor.
This comes from my side-project The Disco Cover Lab, where I experiment with “what if…?” versions of much-loved songs – re-engineering them for disco, funk and electronic settings.
This is a fan-made, unofficial tribute. The original song and recording will always be the real thing, and all rights to the composition and master remain with the original writers, publishers and rights holders.
