So happy to be back to streaming and happy to have enjoyed these 3 episodes of Kaoru Hana. I loved that we got the progression of Subaru, Kaoruko and Rintarou all becoming friends and then this extending into the rest of the group with Ayato, Shouhei and Saku. ALSO AYATO IS THE GOAT...just saying.

Then to get the moment when Rintarou discovers his feelings on a date with Kaoruko melted my heart and it was beautiful to see the development romantically for both of them (as we know post Subaru episode Kaoruko is super aware of her feelings after Rintarou refusing to not see her).

LASTLY episode 9 has easily the best moment for me of the series with the backstory for why Rintarou died his hair. I didnt expect the level of depth we ultimately got from the reveal and it was so amazing to see how much his mom supported Rintarou because she knew more than anyone how much he was hurting. I can't imagine seeing my kid in tears saying he gives up. Loved how with all they both have been through, the dad saying Rintarou would thank his mom one day and seeing that fulfilled in real time was beautiful. Again Mrs. Tsumugi is mother of the year for me. She dyed her hair and pierced her ears just to make her kid feel comfortable and encouraged him to do something that would earnestly bring him happiness.

Synopsis: Despite being adjacent to one another, Chidori Public High School and the all-girls Kikyo Private Academy seem to exist in two different worlds. While the latter boasts an immaculate reputation and favors students from wealthy backgrounds, the former is a nest for dim-witted delinquents. Everyone at Kikyo harbors a deep hatred for their Chidori neighbors.

Sixteen-year-old Rintarou Tsumugi is a student at Chidori whose intimidating face leads people to avoid him. Rintarou pays no mind to this, as he is content with his group of friends. However, there is something he has not told them yet: sometimes, he helps out at his family's cake shop.

One day at work, Rintarou sees a customer at a table, but she runs off before he can talk to her. The next day, he receives an apology from the girl, Kaoruko Waguri, who explains that she did not run away because of his appearance and that she believes Rintarou is a kind-hearted person. Although he is not used to Kaoruko's bright personality, Rintarou looks forward to forming a friendship with her. There is just one obstacle that stands in his way: Kaoruko is a Kikyo student!
