At 22, in his athletic prime playing wide receiver for the Missouri Tigers, Logan Muckey never thought cancer was a possibility.
But when a serious illness sapped his energy, Logan’s neck CT scan revealed more than an infected tonsil — he also had papillary thyroid cancer. His trainers and team doctor coordinated his care with MU Health Care’s Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Thanks to expert care and specialist surgical expertise, Logan’s surgery was an outpatient procedure, and he had fully returned to football within three months.
