Ep 8. Diesel heater location and pipework routing. Beneteau Antares 650

Short video just showing quickly the diesel heater install, exhaust and combustion air routes.

The heated air is taken from the cabin below the helm seat and recirculated back into the cabin and cuddy.

The exhaust is a genuine espar marine exhaust, which came fully insulated, then encased in ducting.

The exhaust skin fitting is a genuine Webasto.

The combustion air intake is taken from the cockpit and routed right to the heater in 60mm ducting, then I made a reducer to take it down to 25mm for the heater union.

There is a 5L vented diesel fuel tank in the lazarette, and is piped continuously in marine grade rubbber hose to BS EN ISO 7840, J1527. The hose is also contained in flexible conduit and supported by wrap around clips.

The heater itself is a 2kw maxpeedingrods. It is in actual fact a chinese diesel heater, but this company has upgraded many fittings, and included a nice instruction and operation manual, plus it has CE certification for the eu and uk markets, so this can be used without any problems and issues relative to safety.

The heater itself has a remote control, plus it can be controlled via a smartphone or tablet. It is still a bit smelly to be honest, because the newness is still getting burnt in.

I have also installed a kiddie CO alarm in the plant room where the heater is, plus a second kiddie CO alarm in the cuddy for good measure
