The Surrey 89ers fell 81-76 at the hands of the London Lions in the first leg of the SLB Playoffs at the Copper Box Arena on evening.
Niners fought back from 21 down to keep it close enough to set up a thriller in the second leg at Surrey Sports Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Mervin James registered 20 points and seven rebounds, while Jalen Ray netted 20 points in the loss.
Alen Hadzibegovic led the Lions as he tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Aaryn Rai contributed for 16 points and seven boards, Michael Brisker added 17 points in the win.
