KNP - Mount Jagungal

Autumn 2025 #7 of 7 : Park gate - Crossing of Doubtful creek - Ridge to reccy high point - Dry swamp crossing - Ridge and upland - Jagungal saddle - Grassy gap on the Toolong range - Mt Jagungal eastern bluff - Return.
Distance : 20 km return. Hard grade.
Walking conditions : 4wd tracks on Cesjacks ridge. Animal trails and ridge crests give the best passage. Clumpy snowgrass walking for the most part. Swamp and heath crossings when unavoidable.
Notes : I made it to Jagungal on this trip, and the route is worth noting for it's ease of passage. There are extensive swamps in the valleys and heavy heath on many of the ridges, both of which can be time wasting and energy consuming. The landforms are very uniform in appearance and it would be easy to become disorientated in foggy conditions.

My day-trip approach to this walk was intended for travelling light while figuring out this route. Overnighter circuits are mostly undertaken in this part of KNP, and it's excellent country for it.
