2025년과 2026년, 충청남도는 ‘충남 방문의 해’를 선언하며 연중 관광 활성화에 나섰다. 그 출발점이자 상징적인 순간은 단연 연말연시 해넘이·해맞이이다. 

충남 서해안은 ‘해가 지는 바다’라는 고정관념을 넘어, 한 자리에서 해넘이와 해맞이를 모두 경험할 수 있는 전국적으로 드문 공간을 품고 있다. 이 특별한 지형 위에서 충남은 자연·문화·축제를 결합한 겨울 관광의 새로운 장면을 만들어가고 있다.

충남 서해안은 리아스식 해안과 반도·포구 지형 덕분에, 일부 지역에서 일몰과 일출이 모두 가능하다. 당진과 서천은 물론, 태안과 보령까지 이어지는 서해안 벨트는 연말에는 석양으로, 새해에는 해돋이로 여행자의 시간을 채운다. 단순한 자연 감상이 아니라, 한 해를 마무리하고 새해를 맞이하는 ‘의식의 공간’으로 기능한다는 점에서 충남의 해넘이·해맞이는 관광 이상의 의미를 지닌다.

당진 왜목마을은 서해안에서 드물게 해넘이와 해맞이를 한 자리에서 볼 수 있는 명소다. 매년 연말이면 ‘왜목마을 해넘이·해돋이 축제’가 열려, 송년 공연과 카운트다운, 불꽃놀이, 달집태우기 등이 이어진다. 새해 첫날에는 일출 기원제와 함께 떠오르는 해를 바라보며 소망을 비는 시간이 마련되고, 떡국 나눔으로 여행자의 새해를 따뜻하게 맞이한다. 바다와 마을, 주민과 방문객이 함께 완성하는 이 축제는 충남 겨울 관광의 대표 장면이다.

In 2025 and 2026, Chungcheongnam-do declared the Year of Visiting Chungnam and began to revitalize tourism throughout the year. The starting point and symbolic moment is by far the sunrise and sunset of the year-end holiday.

Beyond the stereotype of "the sea on which the sun sets," the west coast of Chungnam has a rare nationwide space where you can experience both sunset and sunrise in one place. On this special terrain, Chungnam is creating a new scene of winter tourism that combines nature, culture, and festivals.

The west coast of Chungnam is able to enjoy both sunset and sunrise in some areas thanks to the Lias-style coast and the topography of peninsula and port. The west coast belt, which runs from Dangjin and Seocheon, to Taean and Boryeong, fills travelers' time with sunset at the end of the year and sunrise at the new year. The sunset and sunrise of Chungnam are more than tourism in that they function as a "space of consciousness" to end the year and greet the new year, not just a natural appreciation.

Dangjin Waemok Village is a rare spot on the west coast to see the sunrise and sunrise in one place. At the end of every year, the "Waemok Village Sunrise Festival" is held, followed by year-end performances, countdowns, fireworks, and burning moonhouses. On the first day of the new year, there is a time to pray for the rising sun along with the sunrise ceremony, and the traveler's New Year is warmly greeted by sharing rice cake soup. The festival, which is completed by the sea, villages, residents and visitors, is a representative scene of Chungnam winter tourism.
