Madeline Island is the largest one in the group of the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior off shore Wisconsin. Easily accessible by a 20-min long ferry ride from the nearby town of Bayfield, it is a great spot for kayaking, camping and just getting off the grid for a while. There's a small settlement of La Pointe, Wisconsin on the island that has a port, a post office, a small bunch of restaurants and more -- just for you to pass quality time.
I only spent a day on the island being unable to get a hotel room, otherwise would stay longer. There's not much to do except to enjoy the nature and immerse in your favorite activity -- be it hiking or fishing or yoga. This place is amazing, being so close to the civilization yet so small and remote. If you're considering, just go without hesitation, you'll never regret.
