Retay RXP22 - A Fun 22 From Turkey

During my usual rounds about various gun related sites, the Retay RXP 22 came into the queue and I was intrigued. I really do like how this gun looks and after looking for some reviews it seems like this is a brand new entry for this year. After seeing its price tag too, I figured why not?

Ive certainly enjoyed plenty of inexpensive (I wont say cheap because it implies poor quality) 22s of all kinds. Considering what this offered as well, including a lot of modernization like not requiring a thread adapter and featuring optics ready, I thought what's the worst that could happen?

Well I am pleasantly surprised at how well this little plinker/trainer has performed. I am excited to put some optics on it and see what it can really do, or at least as well as I can do with whats on board. The major gripe I have is the flat trigger and the unusable double action trigger pull weight. It is even worse than the PPK/S 22 trigger. I do honestly believe they intended this gun to be shot only in single action mode which is fine for what it is. I could not recommend this pistol for DA training purposes however.

Aside from that, I've had no reliability issues that isn't outside the norm for 22s. Its been quite accurate for me even with bulk ammo and it does what I want it to. In addition to looking good, being affordable, and accurate what more could you want for its price? Color me impressed so far.
