The shadowy creature lunges at Yoda, lashing his claws at him. Yoda feels it tearing at his robe, but he barely manages to avoid the attack and ignites his lightsaber. When he tries to sweep it towards him, the shadowy creature leaps out of the way.

Shadow Creature: Come now, remember how good it was to play with me.

Yoda: No, part of me, you are not.

He pushes him back, sending him crashing into the underbrush nearby. But the creature does not stay down and continues to come at him. When Yoda tries to knock him aside a second time, the shadowy creature avoids the strike.

Shadow Creature: No, part of you I am. Always a part of you! Laughs.

Yoda: No, no. Accept that I do not.

As the creature tries to leap aside, Yoda pounces after it and knocks it to the ground. But Yoda leaps after him and ignites his lightsaber, holding it up to his throat. Despite that, the creature only laughs.

Shadow Creature: Then you shall lose. Blind you are to the growing darkness, just as blind you are to your darkness.

He shoves the creature back and drives his lightsaber across its neck. As he dissipates into nothingness, the laughter of the creature continues to echo across this planet.

When he returns to Coruscant, he tries to brush off what he saw to the rest of the Jedi Order, but inside, the thoughts nag at his mind. He knows that Qui-Gon is alive and that there are other abilities in the Force beyond even the Jedi’s understanding.

But he also recalls the creature who attacked him. Yoda tries to brush it off as just an illusion, but in his heart, he knows what that creature really was. His Dark Side, the side he was trying to contain for centuries. Unfortunately, that trip to Moraban has started to awaken it.

Even as he sleeps, Yoda has visions of that same monster. It beckons towards him, tempting him with power. When he tries to clear his head, he can feel its laughter. Calling him a fool and how he’s just as blind and weak as he was before. If he truly wants answers, he should seek them out in Bimmiel.

Yoda blinks and realizes that he is already on thin ice. The council did not approve of his last excursion and many already fear his mind is starting to slip. If he were to leave again, it would only add fuel to the fire and heighten their worries. And yet, the call of Dark Yoda is too powerful to ignore.

He sets off once again to Bimmiel, finding an old mining colony there that has long since been abandoned. The place still feels alive in the Force. As Yoda wanders the empty shafts, he feels a strange sensation over him, that someone is watching him.

He blinks and grips his light saber, whirling around to look for any potential attackers. Finding none, he sits down in the center of a large clearing and begins to meditate. He is not sure of what he will find, but the Force around him begins to hum and hiss. He feels the air shifting as a cold wind blows around him, and then a figure appears.

Darth Vectivus: Greetings, traveller.
Yoda narrows his eyes, rising slowly from his meditative pose.
Yoda: An illusion, you are. Like the Bane specter before.
Yoda channels the Force, using it to search for clarity. Darth Vectivus doesn’t move, his ghostly form flickering faintly in the wind-tossed clearing. Unlike Bane’s towering, wrathful projection, Vectivus stands calm, a faint smile on his face.
Vectivus: Not quite. I am no echo conjured by your fears. A shade, yes—but a conscious one.”
Yoda frowns and stretches out with the Force. He expects resistance. Deceit. The dark presence recoils from his probe. But instead, he feels stillness. Awareness. A mind shaped by the dark side, yes—but not twisted by it. Curious. Studious. Peaceful?
And to his horror, he sees that Vectivus speaks truly. He is as real as Qui-Gon’s specter, a spirit here to guide him. When he speaks with him, he is instantly on edge and steps back.
Yoda: Impossible, this is. Sith, you were. Death, defied by you, as a Jedi , cannot.”
Vectivus: I never defied death. I embraced it. Prepared for it. But are you Jedi so full of yourselves that you cannot even consider a Sith may achieve power that you have, or even surpass it? I have no interest in conquest, but even I see the folly of the Jedi, whose faith rests in their own self-importance rather than knowledge and understanding. You will lose, my friend, not from the Sith.
Yoda: Arrogance you speak, yet part of the Dark side, that is, Understanding, you claim. But seduction, this is. A trap.”
Vectivus: A trap? I have no empire. No lesions. No apprentice to succeed me. I died centuries before Palpatine crawled out of his hole. I do not wish to tempt you. I wish to teach you.”
Yoda: Teach me… what?
Vectivus: What you came here for? That the Jedi failed not because they were weak—but because they feared knowledge.
