Frames, in their simplest form, are rectangles around something else. And these birch plywood #art #frames are as simple as they come. Watch along as J Robert Clark demonstrates the straightforward #maker techniques used in constructing these #modern examples of the #classic frame. Complete with steps for #archivally #mounting the art!
Specs:
Materials: 1/2" #BalticBirchPlywood, #WoodGlue, 1/8" clear #acrylic, and #archival mat, backer & tapes
Dimensions: 1 1/2" plywood strips with 3/8" deep x 1/2" straight rabbet/dado; corners joined using standard miters; frames vary in size based on artwork
Tools:
Table saw, router (in custom table saw insert), palm sander, sanding block, sandpaper, strap clamps
Two custom-made jigs were also used: the cross-cut and miter-cut jigs. Both built after watching #HowTo's by William Ng here on YouTube:
