it seems a little funny to talk about live auditions now, but at some point orchestras will start up again and the backlog of auditions will be announced from all the openings that have been building up. if you were trying to get a job before, you're still on the audition circuit. one of the most overlooked parts of audition preparation is how to approach audition itself.
so i teamed up with noa kageyama (the bulletproof musician) to interview 3 detroit symphony orchestra musicians - caroline coade (viola), sarah lewis (assistant principal oboe) and amanda blaikie (second flute) about how they prepare for audition day.
