37 Years of Journey With SMRT ✨

The day where SMRT Crop was first formed,where many of our Childhood first appeared within this Operator.

SMRT Trains side:
Started in 1987,37 Years ago,SMRT Crop and SMRT Trains started their operation on the North-South Line(NSL) between Yio Chu Kang and Toa Payoh.It was a huge mile stone as it is something that is new and was also the start of the Mix Bus and Train System aswell.The East West Line(EWL) also opened few months after NSL and then few years later, Circle Line(CCL) and recently the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) aswell, marking the rapid growth of our MRT System (along the side with SBST's DTL and NEL).

In 1999,the Bukit Panjang LRT(BPLRT) was opened and it became the first LRT and the only Trunk type LRT on our Island.BPLRT was Bulit as the government's plan on having a Light Rail Transit.Unfortunately,the plans for having more LRT's didn't really go on as we ended up having only 3 LRT lines (Sengkang and Punggol under SBST while Bukit Panjang LRT is under SMRT) and MRT + Buses where more useful to them.But ofc,in this town,the LRT is useful anyways.


SMRT Buses side:
Founded in 1982,the founder of TIBS,Mr Ng Ser Miang,formed Trans Island Bus Services(TIBS) as it is to complete with the then Dominating Singapore Bus Services(SBS).

In 1983,Trans Island started their operations on 2 Service, Trunk 167 and 160(now 980) with only 40 Buses.Within a few years,TIBS manage to expend and even got their then new Headquarters,the former Ang Mo Kio Depot (AMDEP) in 1986 and became a dominating operator in the North,North-West,West and at one point,the North-East(until 2000's).

Along the side with City Shuttle Service (CSS),TIBS was originally part of the SBB group until SMRT brought over in 2000's*

In 2004,TIBS was then Rebranded to SMRT Buses,as part of it's rebrand exercise.It was a huge difference back then as it when from Yellow+Orange to Red but it did continue to operate like normal(but CSS operated until 2007 with the withdrawal of CSS 608,and was closed in Dec 2007).

Fast forward to present day,SMRT Buses continues to operate with Pride and giving us every fun memories for us (especially our childhood) and still, having our Journeys with them :)
