Khao Takiab panoramic view (Chopstick hill aka Monkey Mountain) - Hua Hin/Thailand

Khao Takiab, the chopstick mountain (Khao means mountain!). With a Chinese background story (as is well known, the Thais don't eat with chopsticks, except for noodle soup), but nobody has been able to tell me in all these years. Never mind, we still look around on Hua Hin's 112 meter high mountain, from where you have almost all-round views from various platforms. And it's beautiful: When the weather is clear, you can see as far as Cha-am (30km) in the north and as far as Khao Sam Roi Yot Marine National Park (40km) in the south. You can clearly see the consequences of COVID-19 here on Khao Takiab (for example, the lack of maintenance of the buildings and the many monkeys that are waiting for food down on the plain in the morning because the tourists are missing); Nevertheless, a trip here is always worthwhile. Recommended, of course, especially at sunrise over the sea and at sunset behind the Khao Krai Lat and Khao Sanam Chai. Be careful with the motorcycle, it is quite steep. Also be careful because of the many macaques; make sure you have everything in your pocket and hold onto it! Please do not feed!

Khao Takiab, der Essstäbchen Berg (Khao heisst Berg!). Mit einer Chinesischen Hintergrundgeschichte (Die Thais essen ja bekanntlich nicht mit Essstäbchen, ausser Nudelsuppe), die mir aber in all den Jahren niemand erzählen konnte. Machts nichts, wir schauen uns trotzdem auf dem 112 Meter hohen Hausberg von Hua Hin um, von wo aus man von verschiedenen Plattformen fast eine Rundumsicht hat. Und die ist wunderschön: Bei klarem Wetter sieht man im Norden bis Cha-am (30km) und im Süden bis zum Khao Sam Roi Yot Marine National Park (40km). Klar sieht man auch hier auf dem Khao Takiab die Folgen von COVID-19 (Mangelnde Instalthaltung der Bauten zum Beispiel und die vielen Affen, die am Morgen früh jetzt unten in der Ebene auf Futter warten, weil die Touristen fehlen); trotzdem lohnt sich immer ein Ausflug hierher. Empfehlenswert natürlich vorallem bei Sonnenaufgang über dem Meer und bei Sonnenuntergang hinter dem Khao Krai Lat und Khao Sanam Chai. Vorsicht mit dem Motorrad, es ist recht steil. Auch Vorsicht wegen den vielen Makaken; unbedingt alles in der Tasche versorgen und diese festhalten! Bitte nicht füttern!
