Created by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz as a theme for the villain character Judge Claude Frollo .The song describes the lust a man can feel and the collision between what he considers as a sin and his inner desires. Furthermore, it describes the hypocrisy of the rigeous men who believe that they follow the spirit of Christianity whilst they just keep some norms that the church imposes and they become more and more evil, letting themselves sink into their opressed lust. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo.
