This video is the third episode of wander story of visit to least known forts in the Raigad.


The Raigad Fort documentary offers a virtual tour of the historic hilltop fortress situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. Viewers are taken on a captivating journey to explore the various places of interest within the fort, including the palace of Shivaji Maharaj, where the
the documentary showcases the exquisite architecture and intricate carvings that provide insight into the life and times of the great Maratha warrior.

Perched on what is essentially a large rock, at a height of 2,700 ft above sea level, the Raigad Fort, in Mahad, is a formidable structure. While exploring the fort is intriguing, the experience of getting to it is also quite thrilling. One needs to climb 1,737 steps to reach this hill fort, which is surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque views. To get a sweeping view of the area, you can take the Raigad ropeway that takes about 10 minutes to reach the fort. For those with an adventurous side, trekking is the best option.
Since Raigad used to be the capital of the Marathas under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji, the fort is a treasure trove of historical riches and one can almost feel its former grandeur being reflected in the beautiful ruins. It is said that Chhatrapati Shivaji's Shivrajyabhishek or coronation ceremony took place at Raigad, which later became his resting place as well. The primary feature of the fort is a towering structure that is flanked by watchtowers. One can also spot the queen's quarters and Nagarkhana darwaja. It also has a huge ground that is believed to have been a venue for Holi celebrations in its heydays.
