Jack Bonham saved then scored the decisive penalty as the Potters progressed to the Carabao Cup second round at the expense of Walsall.

The City goalkeeper saved Albert Adomah’s fifth and final spot-kick for the visitors before stepping up to convert his own attempt from the spot to seal a place in tomorrow’s draw.

Bonham started in ST4 as one of nine changes made by Mark Robins from Saturday’s opening day victory over Derby County, with the entirety of the bench from the 3-1 success elevated to the starting XI.
