How To Remove Jam and Jelly Stains - Jam and Jelly Stain Cleaning Tips

How to remove jam and jelly stains:

1.) Check the care label to determine if your garment is washable. If your garment is dry clean only, do not attempt at home remedies or proceed with caution.
2.) Remove any excess jam or jelly with a fresh white towel.
2.) If the jam or jelly stain is on a washable garment, dab (do not rub) the jam/jelly with a clean white towel to absorb as much of the stain as possible.
3.) Before washing, mix up a solution of one cup of lukewarm water, 1/2 teaspoon of dish detergent (not laundry detergent, we like Dawn) and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
4.) Apply this solution to the stain site and allow to sit for 15 minutes.
5.) Wash as normal or instructed by the care label.
6.) If the jam or jelly stain did not come out, do not dry!
7.) Try the procedure above again and if this doesn’t work, apply 3% hydrogen peroxide (available from the first aid aisle of your local pharmacy) to the jam or jelly stain. Allow to sit for 15 minutes and then wash. This should remove the last traces of the jam or jelly stain.
8.) Only dry once the jam or jelly stain has been fully removed.
9.) Your jam or jelly stain is removed!

Tip - Darker colored jam or jellies can be very difficult to remove on light colored garments. If the stain is still present bring this garment to your local dry cleaner for some extra help.
