Is it OK to turn around (Bicycle Tour).

A short Bicycle Tour on a fat bike. (The intention was for 10 days.)
Start Mckillops Bridge (Snowy River national Park) Victoria Australia.
The first day was steep and this was expected. The next day it rained all day so I sat in the tent most of the day. That night I woke at about 8pm to at least 4 wild dogs howling very close to my tent. I could tell they were large by their howl.
I turned my phone on with music loud and my light to try to scare them away. They stopped for a little bit then continued not being scared of me. This is unusual and scared me. being dark and in a small tent you can feel venerable which I did.
I tried to sleep but they kept waking me through the night.
The next morning I woke tired and cold as there was a frost on my tent.
Packed up and headed up the track very steeply. It was so steep I was struggling to push the bike up the hills and get grip. By 10:30am I decided just to turn around. (Really don't like turning around).
On the bike I now have a Rolhoff set-up. This was made hard by the manufacturer sending two of the one side for the Rolhoff adapter. This stopped me from taking my bike to Tasmania. I then had to source the other side from the USA as the manufacturer wasn't replying to my email. Then I had to pay a bike shop to set-up the Rolhoff which all took time and some frustration.
After this short tour I've bought a Van (Renault kangoo maxi). Which I'm going to set-up as a home from which to live in and fruit pick and do bike touring. I'm in the process of building a bed now and leave for Queensland next week. I will fruit pick so I can earn money as to set-up the van up.
