Howdy ukers, Happy New Year, here is the classic My Girl for you to learn. Its a fairly simple version if you don't want to learn the tabbed riff but if you do I give a short explanation on it but you can find more about reading and playing tab in another video on the channel (Lesson 19) which is a method of notation for those who don't read music to play the melody of the song using numbers that represent fret to press shown on the strings of the instrument. Also, interestingly in this song (to some) the riff we know and love uses what is called the pentatonic scale notes which is a more simple version of a scale and which can be used to learn to play improvised melody based on only 5 notes of the scale (any pitch of the notes). Those notes fit in more readily with the chords of a song and so are helpful to memorize if improvising is something you want to learn to do. More on that in the video.
