Lahore’s historic and busiest markets are facing serious safety risks due to dangerously hanging and tangled electricity wires. At least 10 major bazaars, including Anarkali, Moti Bazaar, Hona Bazaar, and Rang Mahal, are surrounded by exposed power lines hanging over shops, roads, and pedestrian pathways, posing a constant threat to traders and the public.

Traders say that the situation becomes even more dangerous during the monsoon season, as rain and moisture increase the risk of short circuits, fires, and electric shocks. These markets remain overcrowded throughout the day, and any minor spark could lead to a major tragedy. According to shopkeepers, multiple written and verbal complaints have been submitted to LESCO, but no practical action has been taken so far.

The traders are demanding immediate intervention from the authorities to remove unsafe wiring, improve infrastructure, and prevent any potential loss of life or property before it is too late.
