Professor Bing Xu, a faculty member at Tsinghua University's Department of
Earth System Science since 2008, has an illustrious academic background with an MS and PhD in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley. She has held prior roles as Assistant Professor at Texas State University and the University of Utah. Her research spans the intricate areas of data fusion from remotely sensed information, disease transmission modeling, and the intersection of climate change with urban ecosystems and health. Her prolific contributions include 9 book chapters and 180 articles in esteemed SCI journals like PNAS and The Lancet. Recognized for her scholarly impact, Xu has received awards from the Association of American Geographers and the University of Utah, and the Elsevier Atlas Award. She has served as the President of the Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Science and contributed as an editor to key journals, including the Annals of Geographic Information Sciences, Energy, Ecology and Environment, and ISPRS J Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. Her work weaves through the fabric of environmental challenges, shaping responses for global health and ecological sustainability.
