This afternoon we’re doing a slightly different walk. From Ubud Main Street, we slip through a narrow little laneway to get onto the Sweet Orange Walk Trail. The entry path is a bit rough, so you’ll want to watch your step.
Once you’re in, it really feels like a breather from Ubud’s busy tourist scene. The trail first winds through bushes and trees, before opening up into the rice fields. The paths across the paddies are neatly paved with concrete slabs – many of them actually donated by passing travellers.
The view is still beautifully natural, though here and there you’ll spot a few villas and restaurants tucked along the trail. As you walk, you’re accompanied by birdsong, the sound of running water, and the breeze moving through the fields – a really calming way to experience Ubud.
The Sweet Orange Walk Trail eventually brings you out at Kajeng Art Market on Kajeng Street. Along this street you’ll find plenty of stalls lined up, selling clothes and souvenirs. The vibe is quite similar to Karna Street, but with a wider road and a bit more space to wander.
The Sweet Orange Walk Trail is a great option if you’re keen on a bit of exercise or just a short trek that’s still really close to the centre of Ubud.
