KH Birth By Sleep Final Mix (1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX) - Final Vanitas boss fights (Ventus' story)

This video basically features the final boss fight of the Ventus' side of the main plot of Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep against Vanitas. Althought you can fight Vanitas as a mandatory boss multiple times with all the three characters, Ventus actually gets to be the one to put him down for good at the end of his side of the game. The footage begins around the cutscene where Braig is apparently defeated by Aqua and ends with the one where Ventus' heart shatters completely.

Note that this video was recorded while playing Birth by Sleep on its Final Mix, 2.5 ReMIX version from the 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX compilation for the Playstation 4 and on Standard difficulty. I was also on a Playstation 4 Pro.

The final boss fight of Ventus' story is divided into two stages. The first one is actually not much noteworthy as you basically fight Vanitas in a very similar scenario to your previous duels in the Baldlands. On top of his usual abilities, however, the boss display a new move where he'll mount a tornado made of keyblades: he will then use it to try to trample you as he also shoots icy crystals at you. As shown in the video, you can knock him off it by dishing out enough damage.

The second stage takes place inside Ventus' own heart. Here Vanitas basically retains the behaviour you've grown familiar with, but adds more moves into the mix, namely:

1) He'll charge the X-blade and dish out a three-hits combo, ending with a x-shaped magic attack flying in your direction.

2) He'll charge at you quickly three times after surrounding himself with dark-electric energy.

3) He'll abuse his teleport spamming tendency to new heights in order to counter your attacks or try to slice you up quickly three or four times.

When Vanitas will be reduced to a single HP left, you'll be forced in a D-link with him and the whole fight will suddendly change into a puzzle battle of sort. In this state, you must charge your Last Word finisher in order to defeat the boss once and for all. In order to do so, you must basically match Vanitas' own attacks with the right commands at your disposal, win the resulting QTE and charge the finisher bar. To be more precise:

1) If Vanitas starts targetting you with his Shotlock attack, you must do the same.

2) If Vanitas starts charging at you at high speed, you must use the Dark Spiral command.

3) If Vanitas will start to teleport around and attack you, you must use Dark Slicer.

This final section of the fight is indeed the hardest part of the whole two-stages battle for a variety of reason: you must have a very precise timing in countering Vanitas' attacks and have no means to replenish your health if you screw up too many times and the Final Word bar will actually decrease if you won't keep countering the boss' moves (not mentioning that the attack itself can fail if you won't aim it properly)
