Homeowner kills burglary suspect in Lockland

LOCKLAND, Ohio (Sydney Benter) - Lockland Police are investigating their first homicide of the year. Investigators say a man shot and killed an alleged intruder around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Police were investigating what they called their first homicide of 2016. The man who pulled the trigger called police himself. He told dispatchers a few men broke into his house and one of them held him at knife point--that's when he fired.

The 911 caller identifies himself as William Neil Brown, Jr. His landlord says this isn't the first time he was targeted. Melinda Shealey says he's a small man who gets bullied. She says less than two weeks ago someone tried to break in through a window. She allows him to keep a dog on the property for security reasons.

"I've told him I'm not the police. You have to let the police know when someone is bothering you, but he has called me more than 20 times letting me know that someone was bullying him or someone was taking advantage of my property," says Shealey.

Not much is known yet about the man who died. Police are still looking for the other men who fled after the shooting. They believe they were in a gold car.
